Conservation Program Specialist

Karastin, a curious naturalist, brings 8+ years of experience in education, outreach and volunteering to the HPB Conservation team. As Conservation Program Specialist, she is driven to strengthen a sense of community while fostering safe spaces outdoors. Conserving and connecting greenspaces through intentional project design and program planning is key in her role. With a BS in Geology from the University of Akron and a MS in Geology from the University of Florida, Karastin hopes to use her vast education towards helping make change in parks.

With a lifetime of adventures growing up splashing in the Ohio rivers, backpacking in the Chisos mountains, and birding along the Oregon coast, Karastin understands the value and comfort nature provides. In her free time, Karastin enjoys camping, photographing nature, hiking and bird watching.
