We’re Houston Parks Board, a nonprofit that works to connect all Houstonians through public greenspaces.
We believe that all communities need parks. That’s why our mission is to expand, improve, and protect parks and greenspace in the Houston region. Parks play a critical part in the health, happiness, and economy of our city. But more than that, they’re alive with possibilities for connection, growth, activity, and the imagination.
Since 1976, Houston Parks Board has invested over $258 million supporting over 250 parks and creating access to more than 14,000 acres of parks and trails. Through Bayou Greenways, we’ll connect 150 miles of trails along Houston’s major bayous to bring 1.5 million people within 1.5 miles of a greenway.
We work on projects, big and small, including Bayou Greenways, community programs, studies of Houston’s parks, and care for existing parks. But we don’t do it alone. Our staff works with the City of Houston, donors, volunteers, and park visitors like you to foster new possibilities and create a community for everyone’s future.
Houston Parks Board is a 501(c)(3) organization that works in tandem with the Houston Parks Board LGC, a Local Government Corporation (LGC) created by the City of Houston, to support parks for everyone. For more information on our LGC, click here.
