103 Sabine, 77007

This 30,000 square foot in-ground public facility holds one of the largest cradles in the nation. Visitors can skateboard or check out the vibrant aerosol art created by artists along “Skater Alley,” the winding walkway between the entrance to the skatepark and Sabine Street. The park is coordinated by Houston Parks Board and the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.

In 2016 and 2017, Houston Parks Board managed the $2.5 million renovation of the skatepark (funded by the Lee and Joseph D. Jamail Foundation). The renovation included additional seating areas, graffiti boards, and unique shade structures, along with the repair of its concrete skating surfaces.

The 2008 construction of the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark was managed by Houston Parks Board for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department after P.U.S.H. (Public Use Skatepark Houston) approached HPARD with a request for a world-class, in-ground skatepark in our region. Working with Buffalo Bayou Partnership, an area within Buffalo Bayou Park was selected for the skatepark, which was designed by Grindline and Clark Condon & Associates. The facility is owned and operated by the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department.
