#PARKSBYYOU DAY
Join us on February 24th for #ParksByYou Day to plant native forbs (herbaceous flowering plants) and grasses at W.11th Street and T.C. Jester Blvd. Volunteers will be divided into groups and work with Conservation staff on-site, who will provide guidance on restoring the prairie along the White Oak Bayou Greenway.
White Oak Bayou Greenway is home to a scenic detention basin, hundreds of acres of grasslands, forest, and wetlands designed for flood control. With your help, Houston Parks Board is transforming White Oak Bayou with hike-and-bike trails connecting surrounding communities to parks and nature.
Special thanks to Restoration MCC church for allowing volunteers to park at their site, located at 2025 W. 11th Street. Once parked, you will cross over W.11th Street to join Houston Parks Board along the bayou – be on the lookout for our tent and outreach table!
Tools, gloves, and other equipment will be provided and please consider weather-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes.
