Joe Dilg completed 10 years of service on the HPB Board of Directors in June 2024. During his time on the Board, Joe served on the Development, Finance, and Governance and Nominating Committees and as Vice Chair of the Board. A long-standing supporter of HPB and its initiatives, Joe also served on the Development Committee in 2012 for two years prior to his Board service.

On the Board, Joe utilized knowledge gained from his impressive career in Houston’s international business environment. With extensive experience leading premier firms in Houston, including Vinson & Elkins and Greenhill & Co., and time served on many Houston-area boards, including current service at Houston Endowment Inc., Joe and his unique expertise have been instrumental to the evolution of HPB. 

Early on in his HPB tenure, Joe emphasized a fundamental value that has become central to HPB’s working model — collaboration. Joe’s vision to connect those who share a common love of parks and a desire to work together is clear in his impact.

• During his time on HPB’s Search Committee, Joe played a role in bringing Beth White, our current President & CEO, to HPB.  
• Joe’s favorite memories of his long service on the Board have been working with Tom Bacon, Barron Wallace, Dr. Cullen Geiselman Muse, and many other great Board members in developing, raising the private funds for, and executing the Bayou Greenways project, which brings over 150 miles of trails across the Greater Houston area.
• Joe had a strong hand in helping build the current HPB Board, which brings together individuals with many different backgrounds, perspectives, and areas of expertise for the benefit of Houston and its parks, greenspaces, and citizens.  
• In 2023, Joe stepped up on a task force of Board members to make connections with the private sector to close out the neighborhood park upgrade program, which transformed >20 underserved neighborhood parks in partnership with the City of Houston.

A fond memory from the HPB team, Joe and his cherished wife, Susie, chaired HPB’s Annual Luncheon in 2019. As co-chairs, they made it clear that pursuing a common purpose and working hard together for results has true power and impact.
